Feedback: The Highland Tour, Supporting a good end of life

Angela Scott

Head of Demential Unit, Pentland View Nursing Home, Thurso.

Transcript of Angela's reflections on the impact of Connect in Care's project, "The Highland Tour: Supporting Good End of Life", in her care setting (2nd October, 2008; Perth Event):

"I was commenting this morning about the graffitti board as part of the play that was put on by Esther and actors at the home. The play was very well received by all who attended. There were doctors there, family members, social workers, nurses, carers. From that the written down thoughts on the board were displayed in the home - there were relatives and staff who couldn't attend, so they also found this very helpful.

It followed on and led to discussion between relatives and staff, relatives and other relatives, and staff and other staff of all grades. The end of life carers seem to be very effective [...] nursing staff and doctors are all working well together to provide good end of life care and our international recruited staff have also found [the process] very beneficial - [they] had a different idea, due to their culture, of what determines good end of life care."
