Lanarkshire Y1 Project

Frontline staff take responsibility for raising standards of dignity on their wards

The Link Nurses within the Older People’s Directorate, NHS Lanarkshire, identified that a DVD resource would enable them to raise awareness and understanding of the issues around ‘caring with dignity’ with their teams and colleagues. They devised the story and wrote a series of scenes to describe these issues.

Through the DVD, evidence-based practice around dignity can be explored using local examples and understanding of the culture. For example, the Healthcare Commission ‘Caring for Dignity’ (2007) identifies a number of key themes as essential elements for ensuring that older people are cared for in ways that respect their dignity.
