FAQs
The purpose of Connect in Care is to improve the quality and experience of care for older people in Scotland.
Connect in Care will support the application of best practice in each care setting whether it be in the NHS, voluntary or private sector.
Connect in Care will do this by enabling professional carers from different sectors to share their experience, knowledge and learning around gerontological care and practice development.
Why is it needed?
- A wealth of information about best practice is available. However, support is needed to help people to use it confidently and capably
- There is also a need for professional carers to connect with others across all care settings
- To address the isolation that is often felt by those working within the sector of where care for older people is provided
Who is it for?
- It is for nurses and professional carers working with older people, whatever the setting
How will it help?
- By connecting people to share their knowledge and learning through the Network
- By offering key facts, advice, and resources
- By working directly with practitioners to develop the skills that they need to develop practice, influence their work environment and involve others in the work
How will it happen?
- First of all, those interested in joining the Connect in Care network will register either by post, email, or online
- There will be a launch event in each of four regions across Scotland in September/October 2007 at which professionals will have the opportunity to take forward a project in their care setting
- Those projects will be supported at local meetings which will happen every 6-7 weeks over a period of 10 months
- The experience and learning from these projects will be shared through the network
